Memory foam pillows offer one of the very best sleeping experiences you can have. They hold their shape and adjust softly to your head's shape for extra-comfortable sleep. The best known and bestselling brand for memory foam pillows is Tempur-Pedic. The company makes excellent pillows but it's popularity and international recognition means that you're paying extra for a big brand name. We've set out tho solve that, testing over 30 alternative memory foam pillows at low prices. By far the best one is the Coop Bamboo Pillow. It's an excellent memory foam pillow that offers virtually the same features as the Tempur-Pedic. The best part? It's dreamily affordable!
The Tempur-Pedic Cloud is an excellent pillow and the first choice for many people because of its well-known brand. That brand name comes at a high price, making this pillow quite an investment. While we'd recommend the Coop Bamboo pillow alternative to almost any buyer, we'd recommend the Tempure-Pedic to people looking for an extra large memory foam pillow (see details below).
The Coop Bamboo is an all-around great memory foam pillow. It offers an ultra-soft blend of polyester and bamboo, feels cool and comfortable, and is independently certified to be free from many common harmful chemicals. Best of all, this pillow comes at a great price, making it a really great deal. It's really an amazing product and we highly recommend it.
The Tempur-Pedic Cloud is an amazing and very comfortable pillow. IT definitely sets the standard for all other memory foam products. Tempur-Pedic uses soft and stable foam that adjusts to your head and automatically holds its shape.
The Coop Home pillow also uses a proprietary memory foam. Unlike the Tempur-Pedic it's not made from a solid block of foam but instead of several shredded foam pieces. This allows for excellent ventilation while also holding the pillow's shape.
Heat dispersion is a very subjective measurement. We let 10 people test the Tempur-Pedic pillow and everybody agreed that the pillow stayed cool and comfortable.
The Coop Home pillow was also tested by 10 people from our team. Heat dispersion was excellent. Everybody agreed that this pillow feels cool and very pleasant.
The Tempur-Pedic's pillow cover is made from a mix of polyester materials. It's a popular material because it is durable, easy to clean, and recyclable. However, polyester isn't very breathable. This disadvantage wasn't very noticeable, though.
The Coop Home pillow is made from an innovative blend of polyester and bamboo fiber. The cover felt noticeably softer and more breathable than the Tempur-Pedic, so in this comparison, the Coop pillow clearly wins, despite its low price.
We couldn't find detailed information from Tempur-Pedic about the detailed chemical makeup of their proprietary foam. This doesn't mean that the memory foam in this pillow can adversely affect your health. However, we'd prefer more pro-active transparency -including independent lab tests for heavy metals, phthalates, and other materials. Coop Home makes this easier for customers.
The Coop Home pillow offers some of the highest safety standards we've seen. The product is independently certified to be free from ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP, TCEP, mercury, lead and other heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. It's a very reassuring feeling to lay down your head on a high-quality pillow that's intelligently designed to protect your health.
The Tempur-Pedic pillow measures 35 x 19 x 6.4 inches for the king size and 25.5 x 7.6 x 15.8 inches for the queen size. Both are good sizes that work well for most people in all sleep positions.
The Coop Home pillow measures 19 x 11.5 x 3 inches for king size and 18 x 12 x 3 inches for queen size. It's smaller than the Tempur-Pedic but we found this size very comfortable in all positions.
The Tempur-Pedic pillow weighs about 6.5 pounds. That's actually quite heavy for a pillow, though some people like that.
The Coop Home pillow weighs about 4.5 pounds. It's a very balanced pillow weight feels substantial but not heavy.
